Art Expo

Today was the day we were waiting for today we had our Art Expo. We travelled around our whole school to see some amazing art on display. Every child in our school had the opportunity to create and display an artwork. I kinda loved it because we were walking so slow like a cheater and we had to stay in one line for like an hour.

Open day at Tamaki Collage

Yesterday the 25th of November 2020 our year 8s from Pt England School went to our open day at Tamaki College. Open day is when we go visit different classes and what it feels like to be in college. We had 4 periods and there was PE, Maths, English and Science. My favorite subject was PE because we got to play this game called Rocket League Soccer and there were 8 pc’s and all of them had either a ps4 controller or Xbox controller but most of us didn't want to use the keyboard and mouse.

Term 4 / immersion assembly

Good morning everybody welcome back to my beautiful lovely look blog. On the 12th of october was our first day of school. In term 4 every first day of  the term at our school we always have an immersion assembly. Immersion assembly is when our whole school comes back together in the hall and each team explains what they are going to be working on this term. This theme for this term is Art Alive.

Which means we are going to be doing art this whole term and to try and be creative and try to make it look alive. I am really excited to see what kind of art we are going to do.

Team 1, Did a famous painting with our teachers faces, so all the teachers in Team 11 dressed up as famous artists from the past. And they showed us the teachers then they showed us the famous painters.

Team 2,  did different portraits of their teachers in their class but they used different methods, they used shapes,  first it was indian methods, then polynesian methods,  and england methods they did all sorts of different me

Team 3, Did paint guns tie dye on a cloth. After that they kept using all of the dye and painting the cloth then after that they used that cloth they used and put a painting over so the cloth they out the dye on was the background the picture they painted

Team 4, Team four forgot about our school immersion assembly and they had no movie but luckily Mr goodwin witch is the team leader for team 4 recorded the whole conversation with his teachers in his block they were on google meet discussing on what there going to do for the term and then they did a challenge their challenge was that they had to do a drawing challenge and miss tuia won by doing a maori design.

Miss Moala was the lady that showed people around the art gallery.

You also get to get more experience on how to swim, it's just a good opportunity to learn about swimming. Mrs tele’a made a challange that whoever class has the most students swimming that means they get too take off the last period of school and get to eat and have fun with my class.

Maori language moment 14/09/20

200,000 Sign Up For Historic Māori Language Moment

Today at 12pm the whole world are doing something to support the Maori Language week moment. So today we did something too, we sang a beautiful song that is in Maori. Room 3 had recorded what we did for the Maori Language week this week.

In 1972, 30,000 signatures were delivered to Parliament to safeguard the Maori Language.

Safe-guard means to protect The Maori language needed to be protected.

here are 3 reasons why I think it needed to be protected:

1. People were needed to be reminded to valueing it

2. Because the language will fade away

3. And so we can make sure it will be used in the future

Ke e founga hono ma'u 'e tongan 'a hingoa

One day there was a big tongan musely man named Maui. He was a nice looking superhero. One day we went to a man named Tonga the epert fisherman. tonga was the best fisherman in the world. He went to this cave that had lots of fancy fishing hooks. Tonga said choose one and take one. But Maui saw an old look hook with spider webs and dirt on it. Maui wanted the old dirty one.

So maui grabbed it but before maui left Tonga asked maui to promise him that if maui finds an island could he name it tonga then maui said yes I promise. Once Maui threw his hook in the ocean he felt something pull the hook so he tried pulling it but it didn't feel like a fish, not even a whale. When he pulled it up there was this big island then he called it tonga like he promised tonga the expert fisherman.
This is a photo I have drawn to show you what the hook kinda looks like.

NGATU KEEPING THE TRADITION ALIVE

Making nagtu is very important because that's how they keep their traditional culture alive. If you don't know what a ngatu is it is a cloth made from bark. Ngatu is known as tapa in many
Pacific countries.

Tongan parents always make ngatu with their kids so when their kids are older they know what to do and teach other family members and it will roll in their family.

When tongan children are born they are wrapped in nagtu, When they die they also will be wrapped in nagtu.

Today it’s used mainly for special occasions such as royal
ceremonies, birthdays, weddings, and funerals.”

Parents can teach their Kid how to speak their culture and pass it on.

I have been performing everywhere in Auckland because I am in a cook island group and are a mixture culture dance group. We do Tongan, cook island, Samoan, Kiribati, Fiji, Niue, and other sorts of culture. Other people are scared to show their talent but I'm not because I'm used to performing in front of other people.

Task description: Today I've learnt how Tongan ngatu are made and why their tradition is important. If you wanna learn more how to make a ngatu click on this link to go to the book I got the information from. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1syqUzIINNPCRfNKE3iQ28DEdV9uTuUc6/view

Matariki fun day

                            MATARIKI
On Friday the 26 of June our school had a big matariki fun day. There was 3 different choices we could choose one was Cooking, the second one was Arts and crafts, and the last one was sports. We celebrate matariki because it was a time for remembering the dead, and celebrating new years.

The matariki fun day at our school I was in sport's we were playing ki o rahi it was a Maori game. New Zealand should celebrate this because this country is where Maori lived first and we should support them.

I was so happy when I played it because it was interesting and it was a easy game to learn. We should do this like 2 days a week, so our teachers that supervises us can learn what kind of talent we have. So
we learn more and more things 2 days a week and show our
families what talent we learnt and what we can do.
Image result for why do we celebrate matariki

THE LOST HUNTER

Once upon a time there was a lady who was going out hunting. Her name was the catalyst. She looked so scary and freaky when she went out hunting she packed her bag, put her hunting rifle on her backpack then took off in her car. Once she got there she was not even scared she'd been hunting with her dad when she was 8 but 2 years later her dad passed away. But her dad had shown her lots of thing and told her lots of things to but he said never have fear there will always be someone there for you.

It was so snowy she couldn't even see then once the snow stopped she didn't know where she was. She tried calling her family but there was no signal she tried everything she had but nothing worked but she remembered her dad said follow your steps through the snow then she saw a bit of her foot prints she tried following it but when she knew it it wasn't her footprints it was a small looking like a wolf’s footprint.

She knew what was coming. She tried running looking for help but there was know one. So there it was the wolf right behind her she didn't have time to run, not even take a step or look behind. But she saw this other thing she couldn't even recognize it but she was that thing holding a gun. That thing she didn't know shot his gun she saw the bullet coming towards the wolf then that thing came to her and told her his name in her mind she said he looks so handsome but his name was Arthur.

He took her to his camping place then made her a hot warm nice sweet coffee she kept on saying thank you thank you but he got annoyed with it and told her it’s alright so he graped his phone and told her to ring someone to pick you up. It's not safe here. Catalyst asked him how did you find me. He said he already knew what was happening. He could hear the wolf and he saw the wolf on his way for work. Catalyst asked what do you work for he said I’m a hunter so she told her the story about her hunting. Then she asked him if they could be hunting buddies and there it was just like that. And every Monday, wednesday, friday and saturday they suddenly became best friends. So she went in a happy mood home. But she was already late for dinner THE END.
